Übrigens: "Tea", dieses köstliche britische Getränk, vorzugsweise mit echter Doublecream aus Devon verfeinert, hat in diesem Zusammenhang eine weitere Bedeutung: Es bezieht sich auf den "afternoon tea" oder "five o'clock-tea", bei dem zum Tee meist eine Kleinigkeit gegessen wird. In manchen Gegenden - besonders im Norden Englands und in ärmeren Familien fällt diese Kleinigkeit allerdings etwas größer aus, z.B. "Baked beans on toast", überbackene Sandwiches oder belegte Brote u.ä. sind dann oft das Abendessen (The tea) bei dem oft nicht einmal Tee als Getränk, sondern Squash, Limonade, Milch oder auch nur Wasser getrunken wird. Die feinere englische Gesellschaft nimmt etwas später am Abend dann noch ein "supper" oder "dinner" zu sich.
